Who we are, for a partner

Naqah is a rural, intergenerational association founded in 2023 in Marineo, in the countryside inland from Palermo. We work with young people aged 18 to 30, with adults and with the communities of the Alto Belice Corleonese, often with people who have fewer opportunities.

Since 2024 we have been working with Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps: we have coordinated solidarity projects (ESC30), a youth participation project (KA154), a youth exchange (KA152), DiscoverEU trips (KA155) and staff mobility in adult education (KA122). We have been partners in training courses and projects run by other organisations in Italy and Spain. Alongside European programmes we run our own initiatives: the SalvaGente festival, the SYNKRO co-design seminar and INNESTO, supported by CeSVoP's Semi di Bene and UniCredit.

We are members of Europiamo ETS and Giosef Italy, we are accredited with CeSVoP and have an agreement with the Department of Culture and Society of the University of Palermo.

What we do well

What we bring to a shared project. You'll find examples on our project pages.

Communication and dissemination

Visual identity, social media campaigns, graphic materials and telling the story of a project's results.

Photography, video and storytelling

Photography and visual storytelling workshops, photomarathons and documenting activities.

Non-formal education and facilitation

Workshops, focus groups, peer meetings and co-design seminars such as SYNKRO.

Project design and youth participation

Erasmus+ and ESC applications, surveys and listening to young people, dialogue with local authorities.

Hosting and local roots

Casa Naqah, a network of local organisations and experience hosting groups from other countries in Marineo.

Needs research and listening

Surveys, focus groups and co-design meetings, to understand what is really needed before planning.

Areas of work

The themes we work on, each with the projects we have carried out or are carrying out.

When we can be useful to you

We like to be clear from the start: here is what we can bring to a partnership, and what we do not do.

We can be useful if…

  • you are looking for a partner in Sicily, in a rural, inland setting;
  • you want to involve young people from the Alto Belice Corleonese in your exchanges, courses or projects, including young people with fewer opportunities;
  • you want to bring a group to Sicily: we design and host the activities with you in Marineo and the surrounding area;
  • you need help with communication, facilitation or dissemination;
  • you are writing an application on youth participation, environment, well-being, inclusion or adult education.

We're not the right fit if…

  • you are looking for an agency or accommodation provider: we do not sell packages or off-the-shelf services;
  • the project is far from our themes or from the values of our Ethical Charter.

How a partnership starts

  1. You get in touch

    Who you are, the programme and action, your idea, the deadline and the role you have in mind for us.

  2. We talk it through

    A call to see whether and how we can contribute, and in what role.

  3. We build the project

    We agree goals, activities, roles and resources together, and send you our PIF, mandate and anything else you need.

Where we work

Our base is Marineo, a town of about six thousand people some thirty kilometres from Palermo, at the foot of its Rocca. From here we work across the Alto Belice Corleonese: small towns, woods, countryside and communities that know depopulation and distance from services well.

It is an inner area, just over an hour from Palermo airport: close enough to reach easily, far enough to live something different from the city. In Marineo there is Casa Naqah, our base, where meetings and workshops can take place.
