Basic Italian Sign Language (LIS) course

Five Saturdays at Casa Naqah to learn basic Italian Sign Language and get ready for E-LIS-LAB in Turin and Lecce. Sign up for the whole programme by 13 November.

A first step into Italian Sign Language (LIS): the alphabet, basic signs, how to introduce yourself and how to communicate with your body and eyes. No previous knowledge of LIS is needed: we start from scratch.

Dates

Five sessions at Casa Naqah, on Saturdays from 3 to 6 pm:

  • Saturday 21 November 2026
  • Saturday 28 November 2026
  • Saturday 5 December 2026
  • Saturday 16 January 2027
  • Saturday 23 January 2027

Once the group is formed, we will decide together whether Friday or Saturday works better.

You sign up for the whole programme

The course prepares the E-LIS-LAB group, the Erasmus+ project with YouthMed APS in Lecce and the Fondazione Istituto dei Sordi in Turin. By signing up you join the full programme:

  • 5 Saturdays between November 2026 and January 2027: the basic LIS course at Casa Naqah;
  • 27–31 January 2027: E-LIS-LAB in Turin;
  • February to June 2027: a webinar on Deaf culture and workshops you will bring to our area;
  • 1–5 July 2027: E-LIS-LAB in Lecce.

Five people will travel, so we ask you to attend every session and every stage.

Who can sign up

Young people aged 18 to 30, deaf and hearing, with priority for those aged 20 to 25. The course is free; travel, food and accommodation in Turin and Lecce are covered by the project.
