E-LIS-LAB is an Erasmus+ project led by YouthMed APS in Lecce, with Naqah and the Turin Institute for the Deaf. It brings together deaf and hearing young people, including those not in education or employment or with a migrant background, to use Italian Sign Language (LIS), theatre and visual communication as tools for participation.
In Turin
From 27 to 31 January 2027, at the Institute for the Deaf: non-verbal icebreakers, basic LIS, empathic communication, social theatre, an accessibility map of the city and the first steps of the LIS-LAB Toolkit, a handbook of inclusive activities created by the participants.
The whole journey
- 5 Saturdays between November 2026 and January 2027: a basic LIS course at Casa Naqah, to get ready.
- January 2027: Turin.
- February to June: an online webinar on Deaf culture and workshops you will run in our area.
- 1–5 July 2027: Lecce, with the same group.
Who we are looking for
Four young people aged 18 to 30 (preferably 20 to 25) living in the province of Palermo, plus one person with some experience as a youth leader. The group is mixed: deaf and hearing young people. You do not need to know LIS: we learn together. What matters is being there at every stage, from Turin to Lecce.
Travel, food and accommodation are covered by the project. At the end you receive a Youthpass, the European certificate of your skills.
To take part you sign up for the whole programme, starting with the basic LIS course: sign up by 13 November 2026 using the course form.
