Sustainable Visions
A youth exchange in Marineo with young people from Italy, Spain and Greece, using sustainable design and visual communication to talk about the environment.

Why it started
Many young people are worried about the climate crisis but lack the tools to turn that worry into practical action. This is true in Sicily as well as in our partners' communities in Spain and Greece, where many young people face economic, geographical or social barriers.
Sustainable Visions builds on the themes of VerdeVisivo, sustainability and visual languages, and opens them up to a European group. We also wanted to show that a rural town like Marineo can be a place for new encounters and ideas.
What it does
From 13 to 21 April 2026 we hosted a youth exchange in Marineo with three groups from Italy, Spain and Greece, each with its own team leader, plus two facilitators. For nine days we explored the links between sustainability, creativity and visual communication. The project was designed for 18 young people aged 18 to 25, six per country, two thirds of them with fewer opportunities.
Before the exchange
Each group prepared in its own country, with online meetings to get to know each other, learn about the other countries and share expectations.
The days in Marineo
- workshops on sustainability, the circular economy and sustainable design;
- hands-on sessions on graphic design, multimedia production and visual storytelling;
- mixed groups creating posters, collages, stories and awareness campaigns, reusing materials wherever possible;
- world café sessions, role play and peer learning;
- excursions and visits around the area to meet people and organisations working sustainably;
- a reflection session at the end of every day;
- a final event open to the local community.
At the end, every participant received a Youthpass, the European certificate of skills. Back home, the groups shared their experience with their own communities.
Our partners: Equipo Mandrágora (Zaragoza, Spain) and Rodakas Research Institute (Elefsina, Greece).
