VerdeVisivo
Art and visual communication to talk about the environment, plastic and drought, through creative workshops for young people in Marineo.

Why it started
VerdeVisivo – Communication for the Earth was our first European Solidarity Corps project, approved in 2024.
Many young people in Marineo are worried about the climate crisis but find few practical local opportunities to learn and take action. At the same time, the province of Palermo faces clear challenges with environmental quality and cleanliness. We chose graphic design and visual communication because they can turn complex issues into clear messages, and because they give participants skills they can use beyond the project.
What it does
From September 2024 to July 2025, a group of young people from Marineo aged 18 to 30 explored sustainability through visual languages, in a project open to the whole town.
What we did
- team training on environmental issues and sustainable graphic design;
- creative workshops on photography, lettering, creative reuse and visual storytelling;
- a photomarathon;
- group projects where participants designed materials and campaigns on environmental issues;
- meetups connecting participants with professionals and the local community;
- a final exhibition of the work created in the workshops.
We also tried to practise what we preached: few single-use materials, and recycled paper and vegetable-based inks for printing.
